Start with how the bag sits, opens, and carries.

A crossbody brief needs more than an external size. Strap adjustment, attachment position, and pocket access determine how the bag works when worn. Hoplok develops custom leather and PU crossbody bags for brands, with manufacturing teams in China and Cambodia.

Send a sketch, reference sample, or technical pack with your intended customer and retail positioning. We can discuss the body shape, compartment layout, branding, and hardware before preparing a sample. The pictured style is a reference; your approved design defines the production specification.

Choose the carry format before finalizing the pattern

A flat crossbody keeps the profile close to the wearer; a gusseted body creates more usable depth. A camera-bag format can separate essentials into zipped compartments, while a flap design changes how the customer accesses the opening. Decide what must fit inside before setting the outer dimensions. For a convertible design, show each intended strap position rather than assuming one attachment layout will suit every carry mode.

Material selection and finish development

Leather temper affects whether a crossbody keeps a defined box shape or sits softly against the body. Review the shell, lining, reinforcement, and strap as one construction. PU is quoted as a separate material option. For leather finish development, ProPelli—Hoplok’s LWG Gold-rated finishing facility—works on crust supplied by partner tanneries. Color and texture should be approved on a physical swatch.

What to check before approving the sample

  • Fit the intended phone, wallet, and other items; confirm that the opening is still usable when loaded.
  • Try the shortest and longest strap settings and check how the bag hangs in each position.
  • Review strap tabs, rings, adjusters, and attachment reinforcement against the agreed load requirement.
  • Check zipper travel, lining clearance, logo alignment, and the assembled bag against the approved sample.

Record agreed materials, measurements, construction details, branding, and any test requirements in the approved specification. Confirm revisions before bulk production. Our quality control page explains the broader inspection process.

Crossbody Bags: development questions

Can one crossbody design use both leather and a webbing strap?

Yes, different strap materials can be discussed during development. Specify the width, pattern, attachment hardware, and adjustment range so they can be reviewed together in the sample.

Can the bag include separate phone and wallet compartments?

Share the dimensions of the items you want to carry and the required access direction. Compartment sizes should be checked in the assembled sample, since seams, lining, and closures reduce usable space.

What should I send for a crossbody quotation?

Send the body dimensions, material preference, strap details, pocket layout, logo artwork, quantity, and destination market. Include a reference sample or drawing if available.
