Define the handle drop and opening around everyday use.
The space beneath a shoulder-bag handle is a functional dimension. A shape that looks right in a drawing may sit differently over a jacket or when filled. Hoplok supports custom leather and PU shoulder bag development, from material selection and sampling to manufacturing in China and Cambodia.
We can work from your design, sample, or technical pack. Set the target carry position, capacity, closure, and brand details first. These choices give the development team a clear basis for the pattern and quotation, rather than leaving important decisions until production.

Confirm the style and color allocation with our team. Sampling, tooling, production timing, and pricing are quoted against your design and order requirements.
Balance the silhouette, opening, and handle geometry
A short shoulder format, a longer underarm bag, and a structured everyday bag require different handle and opening arrangements. State the handle drop separately from the total strap length. For a narrow opening, allow room to reach into the bag without fighting the closure. If the design includes an optional long strap, its attachment points and reinforcement also need to be included in the brief.

- Logo placement, metal finish, hardware shape, lining color, dust bag, and packing requirements.
Material selection and finish development
A soft leather can support a relaxed shape, while a more structured construction may need reinforcement and a different temper. Review the handle material and its edges as carefully as the body panels. Hoplok can discuss leather or PU against your price and appearance requirements. ProPelli handles leather finishing on crust supplied by partner tanneries; it is our LWG Gold-rated finishing facility in Cambodia.

What to check before approving the sample
- Review the handle drop on the intended wearer, including the clothing conditions relevant to the collection.
- Load the sample with the planned contents and assess the base shape and opening access.
- Check handle attachments, seam alignment, closure operation, and any detachable strap arrangement.
- Compare body and handle color, surface finish, edge work, branding, and lining against approved references.
Record agreed materials, measurements, construction details, branding, and any test requirements in the approved specification. Confirm revisions before bulk production. Our quality control page explains the broader inspection process.
Shoulder Bags: development questions
How should I specify the handle drop?
Show the vertical distance from the top of the bag to the underside of the handle in its intended carrying position. Include a drawing or reference sample and identify whether the handle is adjustable.
Can a shoulder bag also have a removable crossbody strap?
A removable long strap can be reviewed as part of development. Its attachment location, length range, and hardware must be designed into the bag and checked in both carry positions.
Can Hoplok develop custom hardware?
Share a drawing, reference, dimensions, finish, and intended function. Our team will review sourcing or development requirements, including any tooling and sampling implications, before quoting.
