A sling bag moves between the chest, side, and back during use. Strap direction, zipper orientation, and pocket placement therefore belong in the initial brief. Hoplok develops custom leather and PU sling bags for brands, with manufacturing operations in China and Cambodia.

Specify a carrying system, rather than an isolated pouch
A single-strap bag needs a clear relationship between the anchor points and the zipper direction. If the design is reversible, show how the strap reconnects and how the openings remain usable. Multiple external pockets may improve separation but also add bulk. Decide which items require fast access and which should sit inside a secured compartment; the pattern should follow that priority.

- External dimensions, usable depth, pocket sizes, and intended contents.

- Length range, width, material, adjuster, release buckle, and lower anchor location.

- Leather or PU surface, logo, webbing appearance, hardware finish, and packaging.
Material selection and finish development
Review the body-facing surface, strap material, and edge construction as part of the carry design. Leather and PU are separate options with different sample and costing considerations. Where a leather finish needs development, ProPelli works on crust leather supplied by partner tanneries. ProPelli is Hoplok’s LWG Gold-rated leather finishing facility in Cambodia.

What to check before approving the sample
- Test access in each intended wearing position, including any left/right conversion.
- Load the bag with the specified contents and review movement, strap adjustment, and bulk.
- Check the anchor reinforcement, adjuster function, zipper stops, and pocket clearances.
- Confirm that branding and decorative hardware do not obstruct the opening or adjustment system.
Record agreed materials, measurements, construction details, branding, and any test requirements in the approved specification. Confirm revisions before bulk production. Our quality control page explains the broader inspection process.
Sling Bags: development questions
Can the strap switch between left and right shoulders?
A reversible attachment arrangement can be reviewed during development. Include both carry directions in the drawing so anchor points, pocket access, and hardware can be assessed in the sample.
Can a sling use webbing instead of a leather strap?
Webbing can be discussed as a strap option. Specify the width, color or pattern, length range, edge finish, and adjustment hardware rather than choosing the strap separately from the bag.
Can I claim the sling is waterproof?
Waterproof performance should not be assumed from the shell material. Define the intended claim and test requirements first, including the seams, zippers, and complete construction. Our team can review the brief before quotation.
